Background

William Gregory Steube (born May 19, 1978) has represented Florida's 17th congressional district since 2019. The district covers Sarasota, Charlotte, and Lee counties. Before Congress, he served six years in the Florida House (2010–2016) and two years in the Florida Senate (2016–2018).

A graduate of the University of Florida with both undergraduate and law degrees, Steube served as an Airborne Infantry Officer and then JAG Corps Captain, including a deployment to Iraq. He currently serves on the House Ways and Means Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
